Leontin Tibacov, born on 26.02.1959 in
the Simeria town from Transsylvania, spends his first years of his
life playing on the banks of the Mures river, full of stones with
strange shapes which he later tries make from clay, being obvious
that he has artistic inclinations.
In spite of his family's reserves he passes
the entrance exams for the middle school of arts from Deva, where
he gets his first knowledge about arts. Then he is the first who
enters the 9th grade of the high school of arts in Deva, the sculpture
section where he learns both to mould and to work in plaster stone,
in metal and to paint. In 1980 he enters the Academy of Arts from
Bucharest, the ceramics section heaving Lucia Ioan as a teacher,
until 1984. Here he experiments on different techniques and receipes
which he puts into practice in the ceramics manufactures where the
students use to work every year.
He is fascinated by ceramic glazes and masses,
experimenting conttinually and looking for "non-orthodox"
working methods of ceramics.
